Edmonton

Last minute mountain fun

From Jasper, we head out of the rockies and have to say goodbye to the mountains..

But before squeezing in some last minute fun. We hit the Miette Hot Springs. We had a little extra time before we needed to be in Edmonton, so we pulled off the road and followed it to the hot springs. Located in amongst the mountains, the hot springs are 4 pools which are filled with water that varies in temperature from cold, cool, warm and hot.  Needless to say, we find ourselves happiest in the hot springs pool. The water from natural hot springs brings some well needed relaxation. The facilities charge a nominal fee to gain access to large changerooms, outdoor pools and a snack bar.  The only odd thing was the necessity to remove all footwear even prior to heading to the changerooms.

You have to love being this far out in the mountains when you never know who’s path you will cross.

Edmonton

We make our way to Edmonton and for the first time on the cross Canada, we used an Airbnb since we weren’t able to find an RV park close enough to the city. We find our way to the Old Strathcona neighbourhood and to a lovely 2 bdrm apartment unit in a 1 year old house.  We have the entire use of the basement apartment and the kids!?… they’re most excited to have a TV again….

More Science Fun

Our Edmonton trip has us making yet another and last stop at a Nissan dealership to attempt to identify the problem with the car and it’s a/c malfunctioning.  We obtain a loaner for the day and while my husband goes to work, the kids and I find ourselves at the Telus World of Science. Our 4th science center across the country and lots of fun! They had a Pixar exhibit all about the science behind their movies which was interesting but not interactive enough for my 6 and 4 yr old. I think I was more engrossed in the exhibit than the kids.

Just two sassy gals hanging out

A little grooming

We meet up with my husband after his work day and make our way to what else!?… WEM… West Edmonton Mall. Having gone months of no haircuts, we stop at the first salon to get my son’s haircut….

Almost an hour later, we find ourselves with a kid in the throws of a meltdown, so we head out of the mall and to dinner and the end to the night…. So much for our visit to WEM…. Owell… it’s a mall… no biggie… there’s always next time.
